# Footgun > Footgun is a registry of dated, verified traps in third-party APIs, platforms and AI coding tools. Each trap gives the exact error a developer sees, the cause, the fix, and the date it was last checked against official sources. Coding agents read it through an MCP server, a Claude Code plugin or an npm CLI, so they know about a breaking change before they write code that hits it. Footgun has 541 verified traps across 35 tools. Lookups need no account. A trap that has not been rechecked recently is marked stale.
