How to get a Clerk API key

  1. Open API keys for your Clerk application. Your publishable key is shown at the top and Footgun reads it from the page. Under Secret keys, click Add new key, because the existing secret key is only shown shortened.
  2. Type a name for the key and click Create key. Clerk shows the new secret key once, in the Secret key created successfully box; Footgun reads it from there.

What you end up with

  • CLERK_PUBLISHABLE_KEY
  • CLERK_SECRET_KEY
