How to set up Stripe webhook
Not yet checked
Start here, signed in on dashboard.stripe.com.
Footgun fills in:
- Stripe mode
- Your app's webhook address
- Events to send
Only when Stripe mode is test
Footgun opens Create an event destination in your Stripe sandbox, on Select events. Leave Your account and Snapshot as they are.Only when Stripe mode is live
Make sure your Stripe dashboard is in live mode, not a sandbox. Open API keys and show your live secret key under Secret keys. Footgun reads it from the page; if it cannot, it asks you to paste it.Only when Stripe mode is live
Now open Webhooks in your live Stripe dashboard (not the sandbox) and click Add destination. When Create an event destination opens on Select events, leave Your account and Snapshot as they are.- Search for each event below by name and tick its box. When they are all ticked, click Continue.
- Events: [Events to send]
- Webhook endpoint is already selected under Choose destination type. Click Continue.
- Paste your webhook address into Endpoint URL. The destination name and description are optional.
- Endpoint URL: [Your app's webhook address]
- Click Create destination. Stripe opens the new destination's page.
- Under Signing secret, click the show button to see the secret that starts with whsec_. Footgun reads it from the page. A live mode destination has its own, different signing secret, so set it up again in live mode when you go live.
What you end up with
- STRIPE_WEBHOOK_SECRET
- STRIPE_SECRET_KEY (only when Stripe mode is live)
Let Claude Code fill it in
Ask Claude Code to set this up. Footgun opens the right page, shows your app’s addresses with Copy buttons, and checks the result where the provider allows it. You make every change yourself.
