How to set up Supabase backups
Not yet checked
Start here, signed in on supabase.com.
- Click the project your app uses. Its Database Backups page opens on Scheduled backups.
- If the page says Free Plan does not include project backups, your database has no backup at all. Either click Upgrade (Pro keeps 7 days of daily backups) or make your own copy with the next step.
- On a paid plan, check that a backup from the last day is listed. Backups cover the database only: files in Storage are not included.
- To keep a copy of your own on any plan, ask your agent to run these in your project folder after supabase link, then store the three files somewhere other than your laptop.
- Roles: supabase db dump --linked -f roles.sql --role-only
- Schema: supabase db dump --linked -f schema.sql
- Data: supabase db dump --linked -f data.sql --use-copy --data-only
- Restoring a backup replaces the live database and takes the project offline while it runs. To test a backup without touching your app, restore it into a new project instead.
Let Claude Code fill it in
Ask Claude Code to set this up. Footgun opens the right page, shows your app’s addresses with Copy buttons, and checks the result where the provider allows it. You make every change yourself.
