How to set up Supabase auth emails

Start here, signed in on supabase.com.

Footgun fills in:

  • Your verified Resend sending domain
  1. Click the project your app uses. Its Emails page opens on SMTP Settings. Your sending domain must already be verified in Resend: run the Resend domain guide first if it is not. Known trap for this step
  2. Turn on Enable custom SMTP. The sender and SMTP provider fields appear.
  3. Type the address below into Sender email address.
    • Sender email address: noreply@[Your verified Resend sending domain]
  4. Type your app's name into Sender name, the way you want it to show in people's inboxes.
  5. Type the host below into Host.
    • Host: smtp.resend.com
  6. Replace what is in Port number with 465.
    • Port number: 465
  7. Type resend into Username.
    • Username: resend
  8. Paste your Resend API key into Password. It is RESEND_API_KEY in your project's env file. Footgun never shows the key here.
  9. Click Save changes. Supabase now sends sign-up, magic link and password reset emails to any address through Resend, up to 30 an hour to start.
  10. If you expect more than 30 of those emails an hour, raise Rate limit for sending emails on this page and save. Otherwise you are done.

Let Claude Code fill it in

Ask Claude Code to set this up. Footgun opens the right page, shows your app’s addresses with Copy buttons, and checks the result where the provider allows it. You make every change yourself.
