Changing Gmail's forwarding address silently stops mail to the old one

Cause

The main Forwarding setting holds a single destination, so pointing it at someone new drops the previous recipient.

Fix

Keep the main forward for one recipient and add a filter with a Forward to action for each additional recipient. The address must already be a verified forwarding address.

Apply

Gmail Settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses > Create a new filter > To: (address) > Create filter > Forward it to
