Cause

A search request allows at most five filterGroups, six filters per group, and 18 filters in total, and accepts only one sort. Older guidance quoted lower limits, so generated code is often built against the wrong ceiling.

Fix

Collapse equality filters on one property into a single IN filter, split very wide queries into several requests and merge the results, and keep one sort rule.
